Operations Build

Your business is growing. Your systems aren't keeping up.

I build the systems that let you focus on the work you actually started this business to do: clean books, documented operations, the owner-dependency designed out. A scoped build with a defined finish, handed over for you to own.

The problem

You're good at what you do. That's not the issue.

The issue is everything around the work. Client onboarding is different every time. Your tools don't talk to each other. You've got processes in your head that should be documented somewhere but aren't. You're the bottleneck for every decision, and you know that won't scale, but you don't have time to fix it because you're too busy running the business.

And if you're being honest, there's a bigger question underneath all of it: what happens to this business if you step back? Could someone else run it? Could you sell it? Would a buyer look at your operations and see value, or chaos?

Light through the forest canopy

A build you own, not a retainer you rent

How an Operations Build works

A build with a finish line, and you keep what we build

This isn't an engagement where I audit your business, hand you a report, and wish you luck. And it isn't an open-ended retainer that quietly bills forever, either. We scope a defined build with a clear start and finish, then I work alongside you to make it real. We start by mapping what's actually happening in your business (not what should be happening, what is) and build from there.

The systems we build belong to you. Documented, in plain language, owned by your team, not locked in my head or my tools. When the build is done, you can run it without me. That's the whole point.

The goal is a business that runs with clarity, not chaos. One that's valuable whether you're growing it, transitioning it, or getting ready to hand it off. And ultimately, a business that doesn't need me anymore. I'm here to make myself unnecessary.

What's included

The work, laid out plainly

Operations audit

I map your current workflows, tools, and processes. We find the gaps, the redundancies, and the things held together with duct tape.

KPIs & visibility

We define the numbers that actually matter and build dashboards or reports that show them at a glance. No more guessing whether things are going well. You'll know.

Transition readiness

If selling, partnering, or stepping back is on the horizon, we build the documentation and systems that make your business transferable. The businesses that sell well are the ones that run without the founder.

Workflow design & documentation

SOPs, process maps, and playbooks your team can actually follow. Written in plain language, not consultant-speak.

Tool setup & integration

Getting your CRM, project management, invoicing, and communication tools working together instead of side by side.

Client experience design

From first inquiry to offboarding, a client journey that's consistent, professional, and doesn't depend on you remembering every step.

Team coordination

If you have contractors or staff, we build the systems so everyone knows what they're doing without you being the relay.

Documentation you keep

Everything we build is written down and handed over: the operating manual for your business, owned by you, not trapped in a consultant's account.

Handoff & training

The build ends with your team able to run the systems themselves. I train, I document, I step back. Making myself unnecessary is the deliverable.

Pricing

Scoped and quoted upfront, because I respect your time

A fixed scope, a defined finish, a price you know going in.

No hourly meter, no open retainer. Each build is quoted as a whole, scoped to what your business actually needs, with a clear start and a clear end. Some businesses need a focused few weeks; others a larger build across a couple of months. Either way, you know the price before we begin, you're never locked into a recurring bill, and the systems we build belong to you when we're done.

If a full build isn't in the budget right now, that's fine. We can scope something smaller, start with the Operations Health Check, or I can point you toward resources to start on your own.

The practice, in one line

What happens next

How we begin

01

We talk

Book a free thirty-minute call. You tell me what's going on, I ask questions, no pitch. The goal is to assess fit on both sides and decide whether it makes sense to move forward.

02

I scope the build

If it seems like a good fit, I'll put together a scope, a timeline, and a fixed price within a few days, so you know exactly what the build covers and where it ends.

03

We start

The first phase is about understanding your business. I come in, I listen, I map things out: small tweaks, and an action plan.

04

We build & hand off

One system at a time, starting with whatever's most urgent, and ending with your team able to run it without me.

Frequently asked

The usual questions

What kinds of businesses do you work with?

Mostly service-based small businesses, from solo founders to teams of 10–15. Product businesses too, especially e-commerce. I've worked with consultancies, artisan producers, retail shops, and mission-driven enterprises across a lot of industries. The common thread is founders who care about doing good work and need the backend to support that.

What if I don't know what I need?

That's genuinely the most common starting point. We'll talk through what's working and what isn't, and I'll tell you what I see. No jargon, no upsell. The free Operations Health Check is a good place to start.

Do I need to be local?

No. I work remotely with clients across the U.S. I'm based on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, and most client interaction happens over Google Meet. If I can remotely access your systems and talk to your team, we can work together.

Can you work with my existing tools?

Yes. I'm not going to rip out your tech stack unless you ask me to. If your current tools work, we'll build on them. If something needs to change, I'll explain why and we'll decide together.

Is this a monthly retainer?

No. It's a scoped build with a defined finish and a fixed price you know going in, not an open-ended monthly bill. When the build is done and your team can run the systems, the engagement ends and you own everything we made. If something new comes up later, we can scope a new build then.

How is this different from one-time consulting?

Most consultants do an engagement, deliver recommendations, and leave you to implement them. I build the systems and help implement them. You get working operations, not a binder of advice. The build still ends; the difference is what you're left holding when it does.

Do you offer hourly consulting?

No. The work is scoped as a whole build rather than billed by the hour. It keeps the focus on finishing the systems, not on running up time. You get a fixed price and a clear finish line.

I'm thinking about selling eventually. Can you help?

I'm not a broker or an appraiser, but I can build the operations that make your business valuable to a buyer: clean systems, documented processes, financials that tell a clear story, and a team that knows what to do without you in the room. The more years of clean operations you can show a buyer, the higher the price. The best time to start is before you need to.
